This week our PNTC Board President, Amanda Abright, had the opportunity to sit down with founder and CEO of Elevate Change Radio, Elza Ala’Niece Watson, for a special episode of the Elevate
Change Radio Podcast. These powerful ladies explore the real behind-the-scenes world of non-profit theatre management, and the hard work and magic required to make theatre happen.
After giving us the grand tour of The Blind Finch bar’s modern speakeasy, Amanda and Elza sat down with delicious Old Fashions (available for order at The Blind Finch) and discussed all things theatre. From bonding over participating in high school theatre, to handling the ever increasing demands of managing, participating in, and expanding a local theatre company, Amanda gives us insight into how impactive and hands-on theatre can be.
Along with discussing the highs and lows of theatre management, Amanda also had the opportunity to tell the listeners of Elevate Change Radio about PNTC’s thrilling Murder Mysteries that are hosted by our partners at The Blind Finch and, more recently, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Amanda talks about writing, rehearsing, and acting in these Murder Mysteries and the hope that the live Murder Mystery performances will garner more audience attraction. The newest of the ventures, Jazz, Gin, and Jealousy: A Points North Murder Mystery will be taking stage at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on February 27th, and March 13th & 27th at 7:30pm. Each show features a cast of characters inviting you to historic prohibitionist Houston in an era where love, jazz, and gin are all just as sensational as they can be thrilling.
Amanda also let us know about the exciting collaboration we have at The Blind Finch for our other thrilling performance, Elementary, My Dear Gatsby: A Points North Murder Mystery which will run at The Blind Finch on February 19th and March 19th at 8:00pm (Tickets can be purchased for all of these performance dates on our Events page).
As Elza and Amanda began to wrap up the podcast, Amanda reminded listeners to keep a keen eye on our social media pages for audition information for our annual Shakespeare in the Park show coming again this summer, as well as any future events by PNTC. Amanda also reminded listeners to not be afraid to reach out to Points North through our socials and get in contact with us if they are interested in participating with any of our live performances.
You can watch the full enlightening discussion between Elza and Amanda on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qLecEYl41w. Points North Theatre Company would like to give a resounding thank you to Elza Ala’Niece Watson for inviting Amanda on the podcast, and having Elevate Change Radio shine the spotlight on our corner of the theatrical world!
